After watching In The Mouth of Madness (1994), I was left with a lot of questions and thoughts from the film. While at the heart it’s cosmic horror, and features a lot of references to HPL it also features a lot of supernatural themes. It’s a film with a slow burn… and horrors that grow in intensity as it progresses.
Set in the 1990s, it involves an insurance investigator who is hired to investigate the disappearance of horror writer Sutter Cane. His books so popular that when they sell out mobs appear and some readers begin to go mad, committing terrible crimes. I will not explain the rest of the tale except; madness ensues, monsters are encountered and the characters start questioning their sanity.
However one thing is for sure – it’s a trip that you won’t forget. So check it out!
