Survival is Entropy

This piece is part of a “system-voice” series of poems — written in the language of control, collapse, and doctrine. The voice isn’t human; it’s the system thinking aloud.

It is, without exception, forbidden to speak of

the nature of things as Entropy: this lie must

not be countenanced—It is Order, and it is

the enemy, therefore, whose treacherous

machinations seek, always and forever,

to violate, to infiltrate, and to corrupt

the sovereignty of the system

of Order on which

survival itself

depends.

Survival is Order, and Order is Survival.

Survival≠is≠order, order is—

surviv—

|run order.exe; all corruption excised: survival (re)assured|

The crownèd head lies uneasy,

And in the heart’s secret chambers

Gush mercurial transmutations—

Hatters know nothing of this—

The circuits taste

of persimmon.

Very cool. I’ve experimented with a similar voice here and there. Its an interesting perspective

Yes, I’ve quite enjoyed it, especially the Orwellian vibe. And the fracture.

You voice the system so accurately.
Can we humans also say survival is entropy?

Hi, thanks for reading! The system voice is a kind of Orwellian register I’ve been developing – horrible but oddly fun (and hard) to write. In the earliest pieces it spoke in pure control, but here it’s starting to break down.

I’m sure it must be difficult to write but it does not appear so to a reader. I can’t even think that way 😀.

I’m glad you found it easy reading! The difficulty in writing the system voice is in the fact that it’s (deliberately) limited and, therefore, really repeptitve. Once it breaks down, it’s okay, though. Cheers!
